Earth Citizenship Registry

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the Earth Citizenship Registry?

The Earth Citizenship Registry, or simply ECR, is an independent organization that records people as being citizens of Earth by their own free choice and admission. The Registry assigns each registered individual a personal number and records their personal details such as names, date & place of birth, etc. to the extent that is required to prove identity and record the individual's registration.

The goal of the ECR is to increase awareness of the fact that every person is inhabiting the same planet and foster global peace, understanding and unity.

The ERC does not care about, nor records details such as religion, sexual preferences, criminal records or race as these details are not considered relevant to an individual's status as Earth citizen.

What Registration Types exist?

The Earth Citizenship Registry has three types of registration that people can apply for. These are:

Site (under construction)
The individual is registered only as a user on the earth-citizenship.net website. Neither a registration card was issued, nor a formal registration of Earth citizenship was recorded.
Basic
The individual was formally registered as an Earth citizen by the ECR.
  • submission of partially blanked copies of the national ID card or passport;

Please note! We do NOT require your National ID number, Social Security number, Document Number or any similar national identification number/code. As such, you can blank those out. Just make sure your first name(s), last name, sex, birthdate and birthplace are readable as well as the document's expiry date.

Verified (currently unavailable)
The individual was formally registered as an Earth citizen and issued a physical registration card if they wanted one, based on:
  • submission of a certified true copy of the, partially blanked, national ID card or passport; -OR-
  • visual inspection of the original national ID card or passport by an ECR staff member and submission to the ECR of the relevant information on that same document by said staff member;
  • payment of a small processing fee for the issuance of the physical registration card if applicable;

Please note! We do NOT require your National ID number, Social Security number, Document Number or any similar national identification number/code. As such, you can blank those out. Just make sure your first name(s), last name, sex, birthdate and birthplace are readable as well as the document's expiry date.

Why do you charge a processing fee and how much is it?

We are an independent organisation and have limited funds. Similar to how most national governments charge for ID cards, drivers licenses & other official documents, we also charge a small processing fee to cover the costs for the physical card.

For example, we use the fee to pay for administrative costs such as postage, verification costs & production of the actual registration card.

There are currently several levels of fees applicable:

  • Site registration: free
  • Basic registration: free
  • Verified registration: free
  • Registration card (unavailable), first issue: € 15,-
  • Registration card (unavailable), renewal: € 10,-
  • Registration card (unavailable), re-issue of lost or stolen card: € 15,-

What is a certified true copy?

A certified true copy of a document is a copy of the original document made by a notary that includes a statement of the notary that the copy is the same as the original.

Certified true copies that are submitted to the Earth Citizenship Registry as proof of identity should be drafted in the original language and include an English translation. The translation should be afixed to the certified true copy by the notary, by use of a stamp, seal, ribbon or other device in such a manner that would damage the documents upon removal.

In all cases, the original language text in the original document is leading, not the English translation.

What is a legalized document?

For the purposes of submitting a document to the Earth Citizenship Registry, a legalized document is any document that:

  • has affixed to it an apostille of a state that is a party to the Apostille convention -OR-
  • in case the country is not party to the Apostille convention: has been authenticated or certified by the original document's issuing country (usually the country's Foreign Affairs ministry), as described in "Legalization (international law)".
For example:

A national citizen wishes to submit a legalized, certified true copy of his passport to the Earth Citizenship Registry.

First, he would request a notary to create a certified true copy (including English translation) of the passport. He would then submit the resulting document to the local Foreign Affairs bureau.

Once the Foreign Affairs bureau has legalized the document, he would submit the now legalized, certified true copy to the Earth Citizenship Registry.

How do I register?

Once the Registry opens up for public registration, simply click the "Register now!" button on the front page.

You will then be asked a number of questions and be given the opportunity to select the type of application you wish to use. All relevant information on how to complete your registration and what documents to provide to the ECR will be listed on the registration page.

Why do you want copies of my ID card/passport?

Though the ECR does not provide proof of identity to 3rd parties, nor issues proof of identity or travel documents to registered individuals, we wish to have an accurate identification of registered individuals for the Registry to be meaningful. For this reason, we provide different types of registration which provide more or less validation of actual identity.

Registered individuals can start at the simplest registration level and upgrade their registration status at any time until they reach the top registration tier.
